Thorn Farmstead - O’Brien Van der Steen Workshops
This former longhouse was thought to have first been built around the 13th century. When the thin concrete slab was lifted and the patchwork plaster removed we were left with stacked granite boulders, no trace of foundations and a stream running through the front room.
We worked hard overcome the water ingress and structural issues whilst remaining uncompromising in the use of ecological and healthy building materials to ensure this building lasts for another few hundred years.
