I am an Architect and builder based in Devon, UK.

Having concentrated on sustainability in my post graduate studies I remain focused on pairing natural and cultivated building materials with contemporary methods of construction.

I have an appreciation for traditional, intuitive processes of design and craftsmanship. In my work I hope to create simple, elegant forms with spatial arrangements suited to a modern life.

Carnaby Studio / Out of the Valley

2019 – 2021

After joining the small team as a freelancer I immediately took on responsibility for Architecture, Design and Project Management. I also became involved in other aspects of the business from on-site construction to business planning.

During this time I took on independent private commissions including architectural work, landscape design and cabinetry.

Moon Architect and Builder

2017 – 2019

As a Part 2 Architectural Assistant at this medium sized architectural practice I was responsible for early conceptual designs, planning and building regulations applications and technical drawing packs. I quickly took on a lead role on several home extension projects under the supervision of the Architectural Director.

Following my role as an Architectural Assistant I left the office to work on site to gain further construction knowledge.

Holmes Morgan Architects

Tony is a specialist in high end home re-design having worked in several large practices and as a carpenter himself.

I took on several jobs at detailing stages and was thrust into a position of responsibility that gave me the opportunity to work closely with the contractor and lead certain phases of high end residential projects.

Grown Home

O’Brien Van der Steen Workshops

2021 - 2024

I worked on a range of projects at O’BVdS from new build and conservation projects on Dartmoor to rammed earth buildings in Georgia and pre-fab housing for London. We often work with traditional and natural building materials such as cob and lime. My various responsibilities include running projects through the RIBA Stages.

A long time in the making in 2024 I founded Grown Home to concentrate and specialise in ecological architecture and construction.

This work focuses on pairing natural materials with modular construction and construction management.

I hold a BA(hons), Masters in Architecture, Certificate in Professional Practice and I’m registered with the ARB.

As a masters student my work was nominated for the Presidents Medals Awards. In 2020 my designs for Holly Water Cabin were widely featured in web and print publications. In 2022 I co-founded Terrain Talks organising and chairing conversations between artists and designers from the UK and abroad.
